Aviva Endean appointed Associate Artist AAO

We are proud to announce that Aviva Endean has been appointed Associate Artist of the Australian Art Orchestra. She is the inaugural appointee of the AAO’s Pathfinders - Music Leadership Program, generously supported by the Ian Potter Foundation.

Aviva Endean is a clarinet player, improviser, composer and performance-maker. Her work with sound spans a wide variety of performance contexts including experimental and improvised music, creating immersive sonic environments, new chamber music, band projects, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. As a performance maker, she often explores expanding the audience experience of sound by creating unusual, spatially engaged, and participatory contexts for listening.

She has already won a range of accolades for her work and performs regularly with Australia’s leading composers and ensembles, including the AAO. In addition, Aviva has developed a distinctive personal practice launching several remarkable solo projects, and co-initiating some noteworthy collaborative projects.

“Aviva is an astonishingly talented instrumentalist, improviser and performance maker and was the outstanding candidate in an amazingly strong field of candidates, we are so excited to welcome her to the AAO fold.” Peter Knight Artistic Director

Aviva's appointment is for one year, from August 2018 to August 2019.
