Mentorship Program 2024

The AAO Mentorship Program offers opportunities for emerging professional musicians in creative music to have two 90 minute mentoring sessions with musicians from our pool of AAO collaborators.

TESTIMONIALS:

“Being mentored by Jem allowed me the space to reflect on my creative practice and realise the driving forces in my work - particularly synesthesia - and has genuinely transformed the way I view and understand my own praxis.” - Katharine Parton (mentee, 2023)

“The opportunity this program provided enabled me to start delving into a burgeoning area of interest both creatively and personally. My mentor was incredibly generous and open in the sharing of his expertise and I feel like this was an invaluable step towards understanding my practice and place in the arts industry moving forward.” - Merinda Dias-Jayasinha (mentee, 2021)

“I’ve come away from these sessions feeling firmly on a path towards improvisational freedom and maturity with my instrument, my voice. I am hugely grateful to have been able to have this experience, especially in such a tumultuous time for the music community.” - Alice Chance (mentee, 2021)

“It was a unique space of sharing and learning that transcended circumstances. Many of my artistic uncertainties and questions melted away as I began to work with my mentor. This has been the gentle wind of support I needed during this time to be able to move forward with my artistic practice.” - Phoebe Bognar (mentee, 2020)
