Kristen Cornwall
Voice
Kristen is a graduate of the Canberra Institute of the Arts Jazz Course, On moving to Sydney, Kristen joined the vocal band Trans-4-mation and worked with a variety of artists, including Julian Lee, George Golla, Carl Orr and Banana. In 1993 she toured China with Don Burrows. A MO Award nominee in the Jazz Vocalist Section for the last three years she is a regular guest at Sydney’s jazz clubs and has just released her debut CD Sea Journey with her highly acclaimed quintet.
Her television appearances include ‘Hey, Hey’ and several appearances on ‘The Midday Show’.
For the last few years Kristen ‘s time has been devoted to Rabble Scat (her a cappella quartet) and the Kristen Cornwell Quintet (an outlet for original compositions as well as jazz tunes and Irish folk music). The Quintet plays regularly in Sydney, was featured at the 1997 Wangaratta Jazz Festival, and at the National Jazz Festival in Canberra 2000 and 2001. In 1998, Kristen was as a finalist in the National Jazz Awards (Wangaratta Festival).
