Melinda Collie-Holmes

Director - Ruby's Story, Sydney and Adelaide 2004

New Zealand born, Melinda is a freelance Director, Dramaturge and CCD Artist. She was the Artistic Director of Shopfront Theatre for Young People from 1999 - 2003. She has directed in New Zealand, Australia and New York. She has worked with Opera Australia, Sydney Theatre Company, The Studio (Sydney Opera House), Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Big h’Art and the Australian National Playwright Centre.

Productions include: Sleepless Beauty (The Studio), Ophelia Thinks Harder (Samuel Beckett Theatre, NY, NY), The Purification (Old Fitzroy Theatre), Checklist for An Armed Robber (Blueprints, Sydney Theatre Company), Home, Live by the Die, Between Two Shores, Momo (Shopfront Theatre for Young People) and The Drowned World (Any Road Productions.) Melinda spent 6 months as a guest director with Wan Smolbag Theatre in Vanuatu in 2003.

Melinda also works as a project manager and has project managed River Rhythm Beat Box for the Message Sticks Festival at Sydney Opera House. She is also the manager of the Wilcannia Mob.

In 2004 Melinda has been the recipient of one of the inaugural Young Leaders in Community Cultural Development Awards from the Australia Council.
