Tanya Sparke

Voice

Tanya Sparke is a singer/songwriter and mother of three, now living in Newcastle. For nine and a half years she was the Assistant Musical Director of the Sydney based a capella group The Cafe of the Gate of Salvation Choir alongside Tony Backhouse and was also a member of his group The Elevators. Tanya has worked with some of Australia and New Zealand’s finest creative talents; Lloyd Swanton, Sandy Evans, Peter Dasent, Tim Finn and Jane Campion who said of her singing, “Listening to her is an utterly original experience, treasured, deep intoxicating.”

In 1997 Tanya released her Debut C.D Darkwood Road; a collection of original music which is still receiving critical acclaim. She has directed and conducted 700 strong choirs in three Choral Sea concerts at The Sydney Town Hall. Tanya has completed a new body of work which she will record and release soon.
