Attend this intimate series of solos and duos, curated by AAO Associate Artist / clarinettist Aviva Endean.
As part of the Heide Museum’s summer program, AAO’s Associate Artist Aviva Endean has curated its annual Art by Twilight concert series. On three nights in January, February and March, she will be performing with one long-time AAO collaborator, in a concert program that sees both Aviva Endean and guest each perform a solo set, followed by a duo set at the end. Visit Mirka Mora’s exhibition Pas de Deux—Drawings and Dolls, and watch the AAO’s concert on a beautiful summer night!
Aviva Endean is the inaugural Associate Artist with the Australian Art Orchestra for 2018-2019. She has been a regular collaborator with the Australian Art Orchestra, in recent productions such as the new work by Norwegian composer Kim Myhr for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, the Sometimes Home Can Grow Stranger Than Space program for Wangaratta Jazz Festival and London Jazz Festival in 2018 and the Meeting Points Series at Arts Centre Melbourne.
On Friday 25 January, Aviva Endean will be performing with percussionist Vanessa Tomlinson. She has been a frequent collaborator with the AAO for many years, appearing in various works such as Water Pushes Sand at Melbourne Festival 2015, Sex, Lynch and Video Games in 2017 at Sydney Festival and From the Air at Arts Centre Melbourne in 2018. With a long history in experimental music, Vanessa uses this body of knowledge to consider how we listen through site-specific explorations, and to explore new collaborative sonic ideas.
On Saturday 16 February, Aviva Endean will be performing with turntablist Martin Ng, a highly accredited and internationally renown experimental turntablist. He’s a regular collaborator with the Australian Art Orchestra appearing amongst others in the programs Exit Ceremonies in 2016, Sex, Lies and Videogames in 2017 at Sydney Festival and Diomira at Melbourne Festival 2017.
On Saturday 16 March, Aviva Endean will be performing with vocalist Sunny Kim. She has been a frequent collaborator of the Australian Art Orchestra over the past few years, appearing in several of the Meeting Point Series concerts at Arts Centre Melbourne in 2017 and 2018, and being a faculty member of the AAO’s annual Creative Music Intensive since 2016. She’s currently also a Lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music of the University of Melbourne.
